A name to last another 160 years

Being reborn under a new name after 160 years is a daunting task. Finding a new identity as a separate and independent entity became one of the key tasks for Sandvik Materials Technology ahead of the separation from Sandvik.

The new name, developed in close cooperation with key stakeholders, was selected in a structured and highly creative process. To ensure that the future name would be ownable on a global scale, name candidates were thoroughly evaluated throughout the process.

The distinctive coined name Alleima makes a respectful nod to the brand’s metallurgy roots and an unfailing passion for elevating materials. Its powerful yet human character captures the heart of the Alleima culture and is a stand-out representative in the global market.

“Creating a brand of this scale is an epic undertaking, made possible and truly enjoyable by collaborating with Kurppa Hosk”

— Elja Nordlöf, Alleima Executive Vice President & Head of Communications

As China is a key market for Alleima, a Chinese adaptation of the name and logo was a crucial consideration. The Chinese name is a beautiful interpretation that honors the Alleima name in both essence and sound, ensuring a consistent appearance of the brand in all markets.
